BALTIC SEA PARLIAMENTARY CONFERENCE

The Baltic Sea Parliamentary Conference (BSPC) was established in 1991 as a forum for political dialogue between parliamentarians from the Baltic Sea Region. It aims at raising awareness and opinion on issues of current political  interest that are relevant to the Baltic Sea region. There are issues and initiatives that support development of sustainable environment, economy and social system in the Baltic Sea region. 

The BSPC is composed of members from 11 national and 11 regional parliaments and 5 parliamentary organisations around the Baltic Sea. The Baltic Sea Parliamentary Conference is the annual general assembly for broad political debate on the Baltic Sea issues. The Conference resolutions are political tools which enables the BSPC to take and support political initiatives, and to approach the governments and regional organisations on the issues of common interest.

Since 1992, the Baltic Assembly is a permanent member of the BSPC.

The Parliament of Lithuania was presiding in the BSPC and hosted the 29th BSPC digitally  on 24 August 2020. Valerijus Simulik was the President of the BSPC for 2019 – 2020.

The Parliament of Sweden is currently presiding in the BSPC. Pyry Niemi is the President of the BSPC for 2020 - 2021.
