Annual Summit of the Nordic Council and the Baltic Assembly

On 9 December 2019 in Hadeland (Norway), Annual Summit of the Nordic Council and the Baltic Assembly was held.

During the Summit, members of the Baltic Assembly and Nordic Council discussed Baltic-Nordic relations to China, assess cooperation between both parliamentary cooperation in 2019 as well as decided about priorities of cooperation for 2020-2021. During the Summit, Decision on Priorities of Cooperation between the Baltic Assembly and the Nordic Council 2020 – 2021 (download) was signed. Cooperation between the Baltic Assembly and the Nordic Council in 2020-2021 will focus on areas such as:

  • Comprehensive foreign and security policy, including climate and energy issues, societal security and promotion of democratic values;
  • Climate change mitigation and environmental protection;
  • Transport and infrastructure interconnections;
  • Gender and intergeneration equality;
  • Sustainable and interconnected energy market;
  • Digital market and interconnectivity, artificial intelligence;
  • Circular economy in support for sustainable development;
  • Labour and academic mobility, vocational education and training.

Delegation of the Baltic Assembly consisted of Prof Jānis Vucāns, President of the Baltic Assembly, and Ms Inese Voika, Member of the Presidium of the Baltic Assembly.
