The Presidium of the Baltic Assembly expresses strong support for the Crimea Platform

The Presidium of the Baltic Assembly has expressed strong support for the Crimea Platform and its overreaching goal to ensure the de-occupation of Crimea. "We welcome this initiative of Ukraine and hope that like-minded countries and organisations will join in their support for the Crimea Platform," was written in the letter addressed to President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelenskyy, Speaker of the Verkhovna Rada Dmytro Razumkov and Prime Minister of Ukraine Shmyhal Denys.
 
The Presidium of the Baltic Assembly reiterated firm support for the independence, sovereignty and territorial integrity of Ukraine and its commitment to peaceful conflict resolution. The Baltic Assembly believes that the resolution of conflicts is essential to the economic and social development of any country.
 
For more than 10 years the Baltic Assembly has cooperated with the GUAM Parliamentary Assembly of which one of the members is also Ukraine. For many years the Baltic Assembly has fulfilled the role of bridge between the European and GUAM countries. Presidium has highlighted the concerns and developments in the GUAM countries in the formal and informal discussions with the partners in the Nordic and Benelux countries.
 
"We, the Baltic parliamentarians, also want to express our willingness to contribute to the inter-parliamentary dimension of the Crimea Platform. We strongly support the strategic goal and purposes of the Crimea Platform and firmly believe that our long-standing experience can be of value to the Ukrainian wish to establish peace and address the challenges caused by Russia’s occupation of Crimea," was stated in the letter.
